EVENTS181Niels Bruynseels wint net als in 2013De Jumping Kapellen is een van de oudste organisaties in ons land. Dit jaar organiseerde het dynamische team rond voorzitter Jacky Buchmann en sportief directeur Axel Verlooy al voor de 27ste keer een jumping. Bovendien was de toegang tot deze driedaagse van vrijdag 10 tot en met zondag 12 juli helemaal gratis. Het hoogtepunt stond op zondag geprogrammeerd met de driesterren GP Merit Capital.Net als in 2013 won Niels Bruynseels (31) uit Bonheiden de Grote Prijs Jumping aan de Parijseweg in Kapellen. Voor de barrage van de GP (1m55) plaatsten zich zeven combi- naties. Bruynseels bleek de snelste in 40.59 seconden met zijn 9-jarige Cas De Liberté. De Australiër James Paterson Robinson, die al vele jaren in Nederland woont, eindigde met Athena eervol tweede in 42.53 terwijl de Nederlandse topruiter Marc Houtzager, met Sterrehof’s Baccarat, derde werd in 42.90. Het werd dus een spannende apotheose, waarin een andere Belgische ruiter, Gilles Dunon met Fou de Toi, in 43.52 als vierde werd afgeklokt.Ondanks het programma de voorbije jaren wijzigde, van een nationale jumping met het Belgisch kampioenschap naar een internationale driesterren wedstrijd, blijft Ka- pellen enig in zijn soort dankzij de bijzondere sfeer die er heerst en door het feit dat elke dag een proef meetelt voor de Longines World Ranking (wereldranglijst voor spring- ruiters). Jong talent en amateurruiters komen hier eveneens aan bod in de CSI 1*-wedstrijd.Niels Bruynseels victorious again as in 2013Jumping Kapellen is one of the oldest organizations in Bel- gium. No admission fee was asked for this three-day event from Friday 10th to Sunday 12th July. The climax was pro- grammed on Sunday: the three-star GP Merit Capital.Niels Bruynseels (31) from Bonheiden repeated his last year’s victory of the GP Jumping at Parijseweg, Kapellen.Seven combinations qualified for the GP jump-off (1m55). Bruynseels on his 9-year-old Cas De Liberté appeared to be the fastest one in 40.59 seconds. Australian James Paterson Robinson, who has lived in The Netherlands for many years now, honourably finished second on Athena in 42.53. Dutch top rider Marc Houtzager on Sterrehof’s Baccarat, came in third in 42.90. It turned out to be an apotheosis full of sus- pense. The Belgian rider, Gilles Dunon met Fou de Toi, was fourth in 43.52.Despite the changing programme and character in recent years – from a national jumping with the Belgian champion- ship to a three-star contest, Kapellen remains unique in its art thanks to its special atmosphere. In addition, there is a test counting for the Longines World Ranking for horse-riders each day. Young talent and amateur horse-riders are appre- ciated and welcome here to show their abilities in the CSI 1*-contest.
